5-6-2024 The Compressed Program has begun!

Handlers Roxanne, Jessi, Mary and Trina were in attendance today. We needed to organize the training schedule for the next 2 weeks, as well as get in two (2) separate training sessions for Riley. There was a HUGE difference and improvement in Riley from this morning's training session to this afternoon's training session.

Trina did a good 15+ minutes of intense ILL work with Riley, then we switched to Week 2 material. Mainly a zillion (or so it seemed) RATT with a very distracted Riley

Then group Scrambled Heeling

Then the infamous Tunnel of Love efforts-:) Seems like another bazillion RATT-:)

More infamous Tunnel of Love efforts-:)

 Trina works Piper

Riley had a lovely nap at lunchtime, then it was time to work again in her 2nd Training Session today.

Initially, this morning, Riley was struggling to focus.

  1. Trina, Mary and Jessi will provide their observations of Riley today. I thought it was a VERY GOOD day for her.

  2. First day of training, May 6th, I worked Riley extensively throughout the day. We began by making sure she didn't rush out of the crate until released. It only took a few tries before she was calm, I could put the leash on and release her from crate. Riley and I worked on Longe line for about 15 minutes. She struggled remaining focused on me and often went other directions. After working longe line we put her on a short leash and started Right about training turns (RATT). Again it took her a while to figure out that she needed to pay attention and stay with me. We did see short times of compliance which was awesome 👏 . I also noticed that Riley does fairly good with sits. Her problem is that she thinks that as soon as she sits, she has followed the command, and then she is free to get up, move around, jump etc. I am hoping to continue proofing that sit so she remains in a sit until asked to heel. Jesse also took a turn to work Riley. She continued to work Riley on week 2 material, Right turn, left turn, RATT, and Sits. Riley had several opportunities throughout the day for water and bathroom breaks. It was much needed as hard as she was working. Riley was then put in a crate for a rest. In the afternoon she was given opportunity to do quiet time along with longe line again. She did much better than her morning session. I observed her making thoughtful choices to walk past most distractions. It was refreshing to see progress. After our second training session we did quiet time with her. She was more willing to lay and just observe. I'm sure she was extremely tired.

  3. You did great work with Riley yesterday, Trina. She is a whole lot MORE dog than Zoey, isn't she?

  5. It's like that the first time you go from your trained dog to working another dog.
